Such is life / Kevin Mwangi

Such is life
Coy smiles eclipsing the grief within
lame promises broken even before they are told
desperation ripening at the horizon
fleeting happiness sinking with every sunset
echoes of demons in dreams
soothe of angels in nightmares
the bitter taste of life when it gives you lemons
sour grapes
seeking shelter in a lie hiding from the hurtful truth
Tomorrow, a guest that never arrives
Today one who leaves too soon?
Rooted to the past
with no fruits of today

Confession of our fears in every new beginning
the surrender in our tears in every goodbye
drowning in puddles of worry
deprived of our sunshine by storms of sadness
boats of hope capsizing
flirting with the noose
So much to lose
Little to gain
chained to the pain, walls closing in
stained with shame, down on your knees
dead ends, no friends
dreadful thoughts, crestfallen soul
pressed to a point of giving up
but always finding a way to pick it up
